In term of the long-term vs. short term, although we don’t have enough data to understand the long-term effects to a patient, whether the body will reject or integrate with these organs, to some patients this 3D alternative could be an only hope to worth trying. It may sound wrong but some time we can only improve by actually using it. In a culture, a body should remain wholesome, there is limited population willing to participate with organ donation program, although this number is growing. As largest population in the world, there is still high demand with very limited supply. At least I am hopeful this is another way to stop the black market of organ supplies.
Peter, you have raise a very good question, does social media platform has any social responsibility to consider health factor and to stimulate learning experience of the society or it’s all about revenue? In my opinion there is supply and demand effects here, for many of us is about self-discipline. However, where I do think social media should take responsibility is when this become epidemic impact to young adults and children. Especially when fake news, sexual and violent contents are not censored. With Machine Learning, a lot of times these contents are recommended instead censored.
With growing usage of social media, development of ML and AI, there is growing concern about privacy. However, this conversation will go nowhere unless we all align on the new interpretation of privacy again. When we store all sorts information onto cloud space, broadcast our daily lives through snapchat, instagram, facebook, and twitters, we are already re-writing the definition of privacy. With increase amount of identity thief, corporation become the first victim to blame for data leakage. We as a society made choice together to push a world with sharing data. People who choose not to join this movement have been left out or end up join anyway in order to survive the rapid changing data driving society. I don’t think corporation has any incentive to change it. We are the driving force to change not corporation.
Thanks for sharing. A lot social media or news app are doing the similar things, recommend news based on past reading record and personal profile, which I find troublesome. The pro of internet is to diverse our views and broaden our perspective however with this so called machine learning, it pushes suggested news to me which indicates my past reading material not necessarily predict my future interests. People also have curiosity to click what’s in front of them. After awhile it’s hard to tell whether we teach machine or AI shows us a pattern to follow.

This model works well only when all medical history can be collected and stored into one place. However even we are trying to digitalize our medical information, most of them are kept confidential and independent from each hospital or clinics.
It seems like WHOOP is only focus on one aspect of the performance measurement – optimize window of training. A function can become an add on function to other wearable product in the market. With so many fitness wearable product in the market, WHOOP should think about its market position and how to debut itself. On anther perspective, WHOOP is potential diabetes wearable device seems much more prominent and interesting. I think WHOOP should more focus on the healthcare aspect of its innovation and become first mover in this market.
