Love this! How will this business model work if/when they scale and move to other consumer segments – maybe handbags? or wallets etc?
I love the concept of the hotel. I’m not sure how I feel about the melting of the hotel every year. I’m not sure why they haven’t thought of building a similar hotel where the ice doesn’t melt and where they don’t have the added costs of re-building the hotel every year. Or maybe that’s just part of the charm and I don’t see it!
I agree with you. Part of buying the bear is about the experience of going to the store and making the choices. Almost like a mini theme park. With the shift to online retail, that experience can’t be replicated. Maybe Build a bear should focus more on the non bear purchase of the retail experience and change its entire business strategy?
Really interesting. But not sure how they will continue to remain quirky over time. Their bespoke approach makes me wonder how this will stand the test of time.
